Electrically dissipative floors have a safety-relevant function. In the fields of electronics, pyrotechnics, chemistry and medicine, dissipative flooring is the key factor in dissipating electrostatic charges.
Whether a completed ESD floor has the required specifications cannot be determined merely with a visual inspection. An acceptance test provides both contractor and principal the assurance that the floor’s electrical characteristics comply with the agreed specifications or applicable standards.
Resistance-to-ground and system measurements, combined with walking tests (body potential measurement) are the standard measurement methods today. They allow risks to be identified and any hazard potential to be clearly assessed.
